.Mission Statement: To bring meaningful access and opportunity to Chicago’s at risk youth, to enhance the lives and futures of children within these communities

 FOUNDATION HISTORY

ROBERT H. LYON, FOUNDER

Robert H. Lyon believed that no matter how much success one attains in life, the true determination of a successful life is one that is surpassed by a legacy. In his own life, Lyon was giving of his time and resources, both to his family and the community.

He established the Lyon Family Foundation in 2000 to make a meaningful impact and provide his family a vehicle through which to carry on his philanthropic vision. His legacy of generosity, ingenuity, calculated risk and collaboration continues to drive the organization forward. Today, the foundation is run by his wife and children, who have narrowed the scope to Lyon’s adopted hometown of Chicago.

With a structure that seeks to meet the short and long term needs of the community, we focus on collaborative investments that deliver immediate and lasting outcomes. Anchored by a commitment to uphold Lyon’s ideals, many of the organizations we partner with reflect the relationships that he fostered over the later years of his life.
